If you worked Flat Braid Join to join squares in Step 3, work as follows:

Joining Round

Rnd 8: Work SC, Chain 3 loop evenly across each side to get 9 chain loops as seen in the photo below. in all corner stitches, work (SC, chain 3, SC). Since this is the joining round, work Flat Braid Join on one of the sides using the loops that we marked with finger and hook in the Step 4 main post. Work remaining sides plain and join in beginning SC. Finish off.

Joining Round

Rnd 9: Working (SC, chain 3, SC) in corners, make (SC, chain 3) evenly across until you have 12 loops between corners. I work a corner, then chain 3, SC in 2nd DC from corner, (chain 3, SC in next chain loop) 3 times, chain 3, SC between V stitches, chain 3, SC in next chain loop, chain 3, SC between V stitches, (chain 3, SC in next chain loop) 3 times, chain 3, SC in first DC, chain 3, SC in corner. Make corner. Since this is the joining round, work Flat Braid Join to join one side of your square to the loops that we marked with finger and hook in the Step 4 main post. Work remaining sides as normal and join to beginning SC. Finish off.

Once you have your first square attached on one side, you can use Flat Braid Join to add in all of the squares around, joining 2 sides where needed. All corners will be immediately joined instead of leaving some corners unworked like in the FBJ tutorial on Step 3 of this CAL.
